Finally got my next ultrasound appointment! It's set for June 11th at 1:45pm at the hospital...after them not calling me for over a week (after my midwife had indicated they should have after calling me and asking if they had) she was at the hospital (she's a midwife with RN experience and still teaches there) and so she went right into the ultrasound department and booked my appointment herself! My only concern is Steven...supposedly he gets back from his trip the night before but his boss has been quite a jerk when it comes to Steven taking any time off whatsoever, even if it's for pregnancy related appointments, so with Steven having just taken a few days off he may not be able to get the half day off to come to the ultrasound with me and Phoenix. I'll be 15 weeks and 1 day at the appointment - though of course that could easily change during the ultrasound! :D
My doppler arrived at 13 weeks 4 days - I immediately dropped everything I was doing and tried it out! I found Bun's heartbeat with little trouble but Bun was on the move quite a bit so kept having to re-find the heartbeat! I also proved my theory that my midwife was using her doppler too low down (she was trying just above my lady parts) - I found Bun the first time just a little below my belly button on the right side and the second time right smack in the middle of my uterus about an inch or so below my belly button! :D Bun's heartbeat was sitting pretty at 156 BPM! Best sound ever, nearly brought tears to my eyes!
I've started packing up our non-essentials. My goal is to pack at least a box or two a week until only the essentials are left and then in mid-July I'll start packing those up too so that by the time we're doing the offical move part I only have to put our clothes in suitcases and pack a small box of dishes etc. :D
I went to a baby swap meet with an expectant friend on Saturday and managed to get a fair amount of cute boy clothing (since we're "team green" and gender neutral clothing is now almost non-existent I want to have a bit of both type of clothing on hand before birth). Then we went out for lunch and checked out the newly opened Target store! :D
This morning I made our Facebook announcement with a picture of Phoenix holding a small white board that had "Only Child Expires December 2013" written on it. I wish I could post the picture here too - she looks beyond thrilled to be becoming a big sister. :D

B) 3.5";
C) Between 3.25" & 4";
D) 3.4" lemon; OR

The winner of this week's weekly size contest is:
Clearly the inches are the winner again (we'll say 3.5") but I'm liking lemon for visual purposes. :D

At 13 weeks Bun is one of the following:
A) 3" or size of a Nutter Butter;

The winner of this week's weekly size contest is:
Well...
3" seems to take the prize for 4 out of 5...
But for visual purposes I'm going to say...
Peach as it was a close second with 3 out of 5!

13 Weeks!
Not too much to report since the last post really since I did it so late. lol
Still waiting to hear about the ultrasound appointment, I'm thinking I should have by now since my midwife called last Thursday to ask if I'd heard from them yet and I was like "No...". lol So I keep calling her every Tuesday and Thursday (her clinic days) to let her know I still haven't heard from them. I don't mind though as the longer they take to call and book me the less likely it is that they will have an opening during Steven's business trip - which is when I don't want it as I want him here!
Started packing in earnest this weekend and last night I packed another two boxes...going to need Steven to start bringing home boxes though. I only have one more fully empty big box, a few boxes that he brought home of random sizes (nothing super big though) and a couple of boxes that I can "top up" with a few things before sealing shut. I know, we're not even moving until early-mid August but I need to sort and pare down as I go so starting now is just logical and there's plenty I can pack now that we can live without until mid-September (when we'll start to move into our Smithers place) which will make the packing of the rest of the house that much quicker in the latter half of July!
Planning on doing our Facebook announcement this coming Monday as I'll officially be 14 weeks. Part of me would prefer to wait until after this u/s just in case but since I don't even have a date for the u/s yet I don't want to commit to that idea - however if we do decide to postpone the Facebook announcement until after the u/s I'm only giving it until 16 weeks and then we do the announcement regardless. :)
Really wish this stupid blogger would let me post pictures...I used to be able to but ever since I revamped my blog to be a pregnancy journal (essentially) it hasn't let me and it's so frustrating! Ah well.
Weekly Update:
How far along? - 13 weeks 3 days
Total weight gain? - 3lbs (down a lb from previous update)
Sleep? - Waking up at about 12:30am, 2:30/3am, & 5:30am to pee most nights...every once in awhile I only wake up at 2:30/3am and it's pure bliss! lol
Food cravings? - Baked goodies of several varieties...haven't given into this yet because I still lack the energy to do the baking! lol I keep using up my energy packing.
Anything making you queasy or sick? - I'm happy to say no to this again! :D
Symptoms? - Back and hip pain...an old issue for me but pregnancy seems to be making it flare up much sooner than I was expecting! Still very tired and peeing lots too.
Gender prediction? - Not 100% feeling this yet but leaning toward girl again...feeling like I might be a bit biased by all the 'just for fun' gender predicting games though. lol
Happy or Moody most of the time? - Happy
Best moment this week? - Finding out that a Target Canada store is now open near me...can't wait to check it out this weekend! lol
Looking forward to? - A friend who is due in October is having a gender reveal party this Friday for which I am making the cupcakes - super excited! Also, my next ultrasound...still waiting for a date but somewhere between 14 and 16 weeks is my midwife's aim (really hoping for closer to 16 weeks as Steven has to go out of town for 5 days as of June 6th and I don't want him to miss our second peek at Bun - especially since it will be Phoenix's first peek!)!
Miss Anything? - A lack of back/hip pain.
Nervous about? - My u/s appointment date...Steven has to go out of town for 5 days as of June 6th and I don't want him to miss our second peek at Bun - especially since it will be Phoenix's first peek!
Maternity clothes? - Yep but not completely...they're just starting to be more comfortable than regular clothes. I have 3 dresses that work for maternity wear but so far the weather hasn't really cooperated for them. I bought a pair of maternity capris and a lot of my shirts have an empire waist style already so they've got room...already boxed up a ton of stuff that no longer fits though! lol
Movement? - Maybe...still too early to tell for sure though.
Stretch marks? - Still only the ones from my PG with Phoenix but the lowest down ones are already starting to get red and itchy again...hate the itchy part!
Wedding rings on or off? - On!
Belly Button in or out? - In!
Labor Signs? - No way! lol

How Big IS Baby - 12 Weeks
At 12 weeks Bun is one of the following:
A) The length of my pinky finger or a Vienna sausage;
B) 2 inches;
C) 2.5 inches;
D) A 2.1 inch plum;
E) A large plum.
The winner of this week's weekly size contest is:
A plum - it's a more interesting visual than 2 inches. ;)

12 Weeks!
This post is almost a week late as I'm 13 weeks tomorrow but better late than never I guess! lol I guess I'll just wait until a little later this week to do my 13 weeks post.
So, earlier this week I had my first official midwife appointment. It went quite well, lasted an hour! Mostly she just gathered medical history info but she also checked my blood pressure and did a thorough listen of my chest and back. She ran out of time so didn't do the pelvic exam...the purpose of this is generally to check to make sure my pelvis is large enough for a vaginal birth (for the most part) so the point of it seems kind of ridiculous to me since I've already given birth vaginally so clearly it's not an issue. lol
The midwife also tried to find baby's heartbeat with the doppler but was unsuccessful. At first I figured this was mostly due to my extra padding but I also couldn't help feeling she wasn't going up high enough with the wand. The more I've thought about it and felt my uterus the more I'm sure this was the real issue because everything I've read says the uterus at 12 weeks "the top of the womb can be felt just above your pubic bone now" but that's where I can feel the bottom of my uterus and the top is a little up from that. I'm already showing and can feel my entire uterus when laying on my back. In any case, I'm not worried that she couldn't find it and she'd already planned on getting me another ultrasound between 14 and 16 weeks so I'll hear Bun's heartbeat then. In the meantime, I've ordered a doppler...so I'll get to test my theory out when it gets here.
One little thing bothered me at the midwife appointment - she used the pregnancy wheel and used the info that my fertility clinic sent her but I noticed that the sheet said at my ultrasound with them that Bun measured 7 weeks 2 days but I clearly remember my RE saying Bun was 7 weeks 4 days and Steven remembers watching him write that down. I immediately told her that my RE said 7 weeks 4 days during the ultrasound but she just said "well, this is what they wrote" and I was pretty pissed because I think that I would know, considering it's my body, my pregnancy and I'm paying the most attention - especially so because we've spent the last 3.5 years trying to conceive this baby, not to mention that I clearly remember my RE saying 7 weeks 4 days because by my own calculations (based off my charting) I was 7 weeks 3 days so I remember thinking "Bun's a day ahead, good!". So I was mad at the fertility clinic for making a clerical error but also very displeased with her because she felt the piece of paper told the truth more accurately than me (for the reasons I just mentioned). I'm going to chalk it up to her nurse syndrome since she is also a registered nurse and so very much in the habit of believing a stupid piece of paper over a patient. But I can't wait to get to Smithers and the midwife who will be attending Bun's birth because I know her and I know darn well she would have listened to me over the paper!
I had originally been going to make a Facebook announcement of our pregnancy at 13 weeks but I've decided to wait until 14 weeks and in the meantime wrote the remaining few people who I figured deserved to know beforehand and this gives time for the snail mail to do it's job. lol
Weekly Update:
How far along? - 12 weeks 6 days
Total weight gain? - 4lbs (down a lb from previous update)
Sleep? - Waking up at about 12:30am, 2:30/3am, & 5:30am to pee most nights...every once in awhile I only wake up at 2:30/3am and it's pure bliss! lol
Food cravings? - Chocolate chip cookies (the homemade kind)!
Anything making you queasy or sick? - Not this week!
Symptoms? - Back and hip pain...an old issue for me but pregnancy seems to be making it flare up much sooner than I was expecting!
Gender prediction? - I personally still have no idea but my daughter says girl and so do 5 different Chinese gender charts, a Mayan gender predictor, the heart rate theory and the "pulse" test.
Happy or Moody most of the time? - Happy
Best moment this week? - Finding a pair of maternity capris!
Looking forward to? - My next ultrasound...don't have a date yet but somewhere between 14 and 16 weeks is my midwife's aim. Also, a friend who is due in October is having a gender reveal party this Friday for which I am making the cupcakes - super excited!

11 Weeks!
Well, I've been a very bad blogger as I skipped both my 9 and 10 week posts! I don't even have a good excuse other than I just didn't feel like it. lol I'll blame the fact that Steven has been gone for almost 4 weeks for work and I missed him terribly.
Three Saturday's ago (April 27th) Phoenix and I spent the day with two of my girlfriends (one is expecting in October). Our first stop was a huge indoor baby/kids swap meet. I didn't buy much, mostly took it all in, but I did buy a complete Baby Bullet set for $25 which was something I wanted but would never have bought new as it's not essential enough for the pricetag. We then spent the day store hopping, some baby oriented others just normal. We had a delicious lunch at a place called The Mongolie Grill - I'd never been but Phoenix and I loved it. Then hit a few more stores and headed home.
The following weekend I bought a travel system off of Craigslist. Now, I already have a car seat and base from my sister but I realized recently that the carseat would definitely not pass the hospital inspection since it's "expired" now. So, since I didn't have a stroller yet I decided to try getting an entire travel system. I managed to find a beautiful Cosco Juvenile system (these are amazing since they havea useful life of 9 years instead of the usual 5/6 years) for $50. The carseat was manufactured in 2010 and has never been in an accident (the lady I bought it from had still been using it a bit - when I met her her little girl had just woken up in it).
I also bought a baby monitor - the Graco one with the 2000ft extended range since our property in Smithers will a fair bit larger and I'd like the ability even if I never use it. lol
Oh and I ordered myself 4 new bras in the next cup size up (from www.AdoreMe.com) since mine are becoming a bit snug. Fortunately this area of pregnancy seems to be playing out like my pregnancy with Phoenix which hopefully means I won't need to upgrade my bras again until I buy nursing bras. ;) They arrived today and I can't wait to start wearing them!
That pretty much covers the couple of weeks I didn't post about.
Weekly Update:
How far along? - 11 weeks
Total weight gain? - 5lbs...
Sleep? - Not too bad, just waking up to pee in the night a couple of times and am often too hot even though I've switched to our summer comforter.
Food cravings? - Hot Dogs (which is okay since I boil them), milk, fruit roll-ups and watermelon.
Anything making you queasy or sick? - Nothing lately except waiting too long to eat oh and the pork roast I made last week and then nearly threw up all over. lol
Symptoms? - My rather mild "morning" sickness seems to have mostly gone away...I only start to feel really icky if I wait to long to eat or if I don't keep a constant glass/bottle of water on the go (severe metal mouth makes this a necessity). Exhausted, gassy and peeing lots are my other main symptoms.
Gender prediction? - I have no idea now...part of me is still thinking boy but part of me has gone back to thinking girl again so we'll see. My dd thinks it's a girl. lol
Happy or Moody most of the time? - I'd say it's been 50/50 the last few weeks but I'm getting back to being more happy...I think DH being out of town for almost 4 weeks played a huge roll in my moods.
Best moment this week? - DH coming home a night earlier than expected and taking an exra couple of days off! Mother's Day was pretty awesome too! :D
Looking forward to? - Tuesday, May 21st - my next midwife appointment - hoping to hear baby's heartbeat! :D
Miss Anything? - Wishing I didn't feel quite so tired still, really need to start packing!
Nervous about? - Gaining too much weight and then having to lose it again. I think this is mostly due to my having spent the last year and half losing 40lbs and since I hope to have another baby fairly close in age to this one and my PCOS/IF history will already make that more difficult. Most I've mentioned this concern to say things like "it's worth it in the end" etc which is basically true but they've clearly never struggled with their weight or they'd at least be more understanding. lol
Maternity clothes? - It's getting right around the corner...my favorite pair of pants are a maternity pair but with the weather heating up they're too hot and while my capris from last summer still have room in them I'm going to need to upgrade very soon!
Movement? - Possibly. I know it's crazy early but two days ago I sat down at the computer just to sit and wasn't doing anything and I felt this swishing sort of flutter in my uterus. In fact, I felt it twice in one day and I've read it's possible but I'm not for sure on if it was really baby yet. :)
Stretch marks? - Just the ones from my first PG with Phoenix. lol
Wedding rings on or off? - On!
Belly Button in or out? - In!
Labor Signs? - No way! lol

- No way! lol

How Big IS Baby - 8 Weeks
So, Bun is one of the following:
A) The size of the rock in Nicole Richie's engagement ring;
B) 1.6 centimeters
C) Lima Bean
D) Raspberry
E) Refer back to D
I know nothing at all about Nicole Richie so while that one is kind of funny it doesn't tell me much. 1.6 centimeters is just boring though gives me a rough idea. Lima beans are just gross. Raspberries...now those are something I've been craving! lol
I'm going to let my stomach rule in this week's poll and say Bun is the size of a Raspberry. ;)

8 Weeks!
Well, I had my midwife appointment - it didn't go quite as expected. I guess I viewed this a first appointment whereas she viewed it more as an interview and did I want her to be my midwife. So, what basically happened was I talked a wee bit about me and then she talked for a good 10-15 mins about midwifery in BC etc and then asked if I wanted her as her midwife. Since she seemed nice and isn't going to be at the delivery anyway (we're moving far far away just after the halfway point) I said yes. I filled out a couple of little pieces of paperwork, she took my blood pressure, pronounced it good and we booked my next and first official appointment with her for May 21st - I'll be 12 weeks! :D
The next day we got to meet Bun, officially, for the first time! We went to Olive Fertility and got shown into the little u/s room (this is a temp office so it's not very big). I was expecting them to get Steven to wait just outside until my RE had taken a first look and I honestly might have preferred this since it was a transvaginal u/s but that's not the way it went down. lol Steven was put in the room with me instantly and I was told to undress from the waist down and there was my huge paper towel blanket to drape over myself. So I do that and lay on the table and the RE comes in and we talk for a minute (that's not awkward since I'm half naked or anything lol) and then he sits down and gets the wand ready then asks me if I would like to put it in (now he's asked me this before, I was expecting it but it was even more mortifying with my hubby in the room) to which I said 'no, you go ahead' so he did.
Everything was normal after that, no awkwardness because there was Bun! I think Bun was sleeping because s/he wasn't moving around but we could instantly see the heartbeat pulsing away. The RE turned on the machine's sound and the most glorious sound filled the room! He then measured Bun's heartrate and it was a nice 144 beats per minute! :D Bun her/himself was very well defined...I was hoping for a clearer view since it was a transvaginal u/s but maybe I still had some pee in my bladder making it more blurry or something...so Bun looked mostly like a blob with a little beating heart and an extra blob that I was told is the yolk sac. It was still awesome and amazing to see! :D The RE measured Bun from crown to rump and declared Bun to be 7 weeks and 4 days big and I was very pleased since it was only one day ahead of my original calculations! :D They gave us two pictures and the the RE forwarded my info to the midwife (though he seemed a bit surprised at first that I was going with a midwife...had it been twins I might have had a fight on my hands lol) and then congratulated us and shook Steven's hand and gave me a hug...yeah, I was still half naked but I didn't think about it at that point. lol
I now have a confession...I was so absorbed in seeing Bun that I completely forgot to look at Steven's face and see his reaction...which I really regret at this is his official first. For all that he is truly my daughter's father in every respect and thinks of her as his own he wasn't there for the pregnancy so it's all new to him as will the first couple of years will be. He did seem pleased though and declared as we were leaving that Bun looked like a little blob alien but seeing Bun and hearing the heartbeat etc must have been reassuring because he suddenly declared I could call my family and tell them now etc. I was like 'say what?' because he was the one who hadn't really wanted to tell until 13 weeks and I was fine with that - I kind of liked Bun being something that mostly only we knew about. :) However, he really meant that very day so I called my siblings who were all extremely excited and happy for me and then I called my mother who was also very happy and then started babbling in a way that made it all about her...but that is another post entirely. Now, I know most people would call their parents first and then siblings and then friends...I did it the other way. Well...I know from prior experience that telling my parents first means I don't get to tell any of my siblings myself...and I'd darn well earned my "thunder" this time and I didn't want anyone stealing it...so to speak. :)
Steven told his parents a few days before the u/s and the evening after the u/s he called his grandparents. You might wonder why his parents got priority...it wasn't really that so much as we know darn well they won't say anything to anyone until we say so and they called so it just seemed right. Also, this will be their first official grandchild and even counting Phoenix (who they spoil rotten and have since they first met her) their second whereas it will be my parent's 16th grandchild...lol
Weekly Update:
How far along? - 8 weeks 2 days
Total weight gain? - 4lbs...gained 2 in one week! :(
Sleep? - Not horrible...still hard to get comfy and still waking up about 2 times to pee and need a nap during the day but I know it gets worse so this is pretty good. lol
Food cravings? - Yogurt, Water, Toast (white bread) with Raspberry Jam, and Bananas sliced up and sprinkled with a dash of sugar.
Anything making you queasy or sick? - DH had beef jerky the other night...really hate that smell. lol Also not keen on his chicken corn chowder soup. We also went shopping and I wanted chicken really bad so I picked up one of those pre-cooked rotisserie bbq chickens but ended up putting it back halfway through the store because I still really wanted the chicken the smell of it was just awful for me.
Symptoms? - My "morning" sickness is all day and if I let it it can get pretty bad but I know how to control it so the key is to not let it get bad. lol Gassy - I'm constantly burping or passing gas it seems. Still exhausted too.
Gender prediction? - I'm actually thinking boy...we'll see if this changes again. lol Also, I'm happy to report that it's just one! Though I'd have been just as happy to report my twin feeling was right. lol
Happy or Moody most of the time? - Happy
Best moment this week? - Seeing Bun on the u/s and hearing the heartbeat ! However, dumb eblogger still won't let me post pics even though it appears to upload just fine! Grr!
Looking forward to? - Saturday! I just found out that a good friend is expecting her first in October and I am so thrilled for her and to be PG close together and we're going to hit a huge baby/kids swap this weekend and see what we can find. :D
Miss Anything? - Not needing to eat every 30 minutes to keep nausea at bay. lol
Nervous about? - DH going away for 3-4 weeks and having to do everything myself...scared of lifting things even though I lifted them before PG. lol
Maternity clothes? - Very very soon! My belly popped even more this week and my once very loose (due to losing 40lbs) and comfy comfort/relaxed fit jeans are almost too tight! lol
Movement? - Nope
Stretch marks? - Just the ones from my first PG with Phoenix. lol
Wedding rings on or off? - On!
Belly Button in or out? - In!

How Big IS Baby - 7 Weeks
Well, it's almost unanimous!
While one site says Bun is the size of a Tic Tac (and about as heavy as an eyelash - so cool!), two say 1.25/1.3cm (which converts to about half an inch) which is the size of the blueberry depicted on The Bump and the last site repeats the blueberry comparison.
So, Bun is now a blueberry and has apparently doubled in size since last week and is supposedly now going to grow like crazy until week 20 and then slow down again.

7 Weeks!
This last week has been pretty uneventful. My "morning" sickness went from mild to moderate and seems to be all day with a spike in the evenings...unless I eat constantly. The scary thing is that I know that what is moderate to me is often severe to others so I really hope I get to stay with "moderate" and that it doesn't get past the nausea stage ever! lol
I have been taking belly photos (unfortunately eblogger is retarded and won't put the pictures I upload into my blogs for whatever reason) since last week. When I looked at this weeks picture and compared it to last weeks my belly has popped a bit so that's pretty exciting. :)
I did confirm with Steven that he doesn't want to talk names until we're out of the first trimester - which I can understand and am okay with. However, he also said he didn't want to fully decide until the baby arrived...I'm seriously hoping he's pulling my leg. Just in case he wasn't I let him know this wasn't going to fly with me since we're not finding out the gender and I'll need to have it narrowed down to at least a couple of first and middle names per gender and then I might be okay with the waiting until the baby arrives idea. lol
I don't have much else to report...other than that I am cold all the time - except for when I'm boiling! lol
Can't wait for Friday, first ultrasound! :D
Weekly Update:
How far along? - 7 Weeks
Total weight gain? - 2lbs...haven't gained since last week! :D
Sleep? - Sleep the last couple of nights hasn't been great and last night was awful - kept having sharp cramps that I was pretty sure were constipation related that would wake me up and make it hard to go back to sleep until they subsided.
Food cravings? - Raspberries, sunflower seeds, crepes and water...
Anything making you queasy or sick? - Lots of stuff...even stuff that sounds good one minute then the next I can't find anything to eat because just the idea of it makes me queasy. lol
Symptoms? - Well, "morning" sickness has gone from mild to moderate...the problem is that I know that what is moderate to me is often severe to others...so hopefully it doesn't get worse! lol I'm also super constipated and gassy and downright exhausted.
Gender prediction? - Girl. I'm also still thinking twins - will know if I'm right Friday!
Happy or Moody most of the time? - Happy
Best moment this week? - Finding out I didn't gain anymore weight this week! lol Also noticed that my belly has "popped" a bit this week compared to last week (I've been taking photos for my own reference each week).
Looking forward to? - First midwife appt on Apr 18 and dating u/s on Apr 19!
Miss Anything? - Honestly? Going #2.
Nervous about? - My first midwife appt and the first ultrasound (although that one is more nervous excitement lol)
Maternity clothes? - Well, I occasionally wear the maternity jeans with the short band but only when I'm out of pants because they're still a bit loose.
Movement? - Nope
Stretch marks? - Just the ones from my first PG with Phoenix. lol
Wedding rings on or off? - On!

How Big IS Baby - 6 Weeks
I'm happy to report that this week Bun is roughly equal in size on all the sites I've been checking out despite being represented by different things. lol
The first site says Bun is the size of a chocolate sprinkle (the thin rectangular ones), the second says a small bean or lentil, the third says 2-4mm, the fourth says sweet pea and so does the 5th and last site. All of which seem to be roughly the same size in length if not width.
So, since they're mostly all so different I'm going to go with sweet pea since it's the only one mentioned twice...but I have to say I think chocolate sprinkle is the most original! lol

6 Weeks!
My second HCG beta came back - it was 2840! I was thrilled - had it doubled perfectly from the first it would have been 1176 and it was an additional 1664 further than that! Certainly gives peace of mind!
We went grocery shopping on the weekend and Steven let me pick out pretty much every single one of my cravings...mind you, how could he refuse when they were all patheticaly healthy minus two?! lol
I had a small freak out a couple of days ago when looked back on the previous two days and it seemed like despite being tired still I hadn't even been peeing as often as before much less anything else so I tested again. It was super postive of course! lol The pregnancy test said I was pregnant as soon as the pee hit the area where the line appears and that's before the control line even shows up and it's dry now and the test line is even darker than the control line! lol
I wake up at night a few times to pee each night now...however last night sucked because the last time I woke up to pee my bed was soaked...but not with pee! Apparently with my extra blanket and 3 cats laying on my lower legs made me sweat like crazy! Fortunately, Steven is on Vancouver Island for a few days for work so I was able to just go over to his side of the bed and let my side dry or I would have had to wake him up and change the bedding or go sleep on the couch (since the couch is easier I probably would have done that). lol
Today was the first day where my mild nausea (and when I say mild I mean on a scale of 1-10 it's maybe a 2) hung around all day...however on that same scale I would also say it was closer to a 4 so it was a bit worse but still not that bad. My whole stomach felt rock hard today...despite it remaining 'B' belly shaped (I'm plus size after all)...so I'm not sure what that was about.
I had the most serious scare of my pregnancy so far when I went to pick up Phoenix from school today. Yesterday she came home and was telling me about a girl in her class who came to school with rather a lot of spider bites on her arm and I was freaking out in my head that maybe they had bedbugs in her house or just fleas or something...no it's worse, at least for me. lol Today Phoenix comes out of her class and announces this girl has chicken pox...I actually took a step back from my own daughter! lol See, my daughter is vaccinated but I never have been and have never had it (though my mother tried her best to expose me a few times to it, it just wouldn't take). I know it can be really bad if a pregnant woman gets chicken pox...however, I decided that the best course was for Phoenix to have a head to toe scrub when she came home and I prayed, a lot. Now I'm putting my faith in God that everything will be well.
Nothing much is scheduled to happen between weeks 6 and 7 so I plan to take it easy and happily anticipate my upcoming midwife and ultrasound appointments!
Weekly Update:
How far along? - 6 Weeks 2 Days
Total weight gain? - 2lbs...but I still think it's bloating right now. lol
Sleep? - Uncomfortable! lol It's hard to fall asleep too and then once I do I wake up 2-3 times to pee...which isn't so bad just adds to my fatigue. I usually need a nap around 2pm but I don't always get one.
Food cravings? - Water, Chocolate Milk, Spinach, Lifesavers (just the cherry ones).
Anything making you queasy or sick? - I ate broccoli two nights in a row, was delicious, but last night the smell made me pretty queasy.
Symptoms? - Felt pretty symptom-less the last couple of days other than being super tired and a little crampy; I admit it made me nervous - I think I was still peeing a fair bit too but I am just getting used to it so didn't really notice. Back in full swing today with sore breasts, constipation, nausea (mostly in the early evenings it seems though it lasted all day today) and crampy feelings.
Gender prediction? - Girl. I'm also still thinking twins - will know if this is correct soon!
Happy or Moody most of the time? - Happy
Best moment this week? - My HCG came back at 2840! And Steven telling a friend on the weekend...that's huge because he didn't really want to tell anyone at all (just Phoenix) until we'd gotten past week 12. Anyway, it means he's warming to the idea - not that he didn't want a baby but the pregnancy thing is brand new to him whereas to me it's only new in a sense.
Looking forward to? - First midwife appt on Apr 18 and dating u/s on Apr 19!
Miss Anything? - Being able to regulate my body temperature - it's all Boiling! one minute and then Freezing! the next...no inbetween! lol
Nervous about? - My first midwife appt - kind of worried that I won't like her (even though she's just for the first part of my pregnancy) but that I'll be stuck with her. I've gotten the impression that in Canada midwives have a sort of cachement area for where they accept patients from...kind of like public schools.
Maternity clothes? - Broke out a pair of maternity jeans with a short band...however they're still a bit too loose but more comfortable that a lot of my other pants because they feel like they start to get tighter and tighter from about lunch on. lol
Movement? - None yet though I'm definitely feeling some fluttery sort of pulsing around the uterus...I read this had something to do with a certain vein and extra blood flow? Must Google again. lol
Stretch marks? - Just the ones from my first PG with Phoenix. lol
Wedding rings on or off? - On!
Belly Button in or out? - In!
Labor Signs? - No way! lol

- No way! lol

How Big IS Baby - 5 Weeks
Wow! I thought last weeks growing baby size discrepancy was bad; I take it back! lol
For 5 weeks I'm being told that Bun is the size of a "sesame seed", "still smaller than a grain of rice", "a quarter of an inch or half a centimeter and the heart is the size of a poppyseed", "apple seed" and "orange seed".
None are the same so I can't do what I did last week and let the majority overrule the rest. However, since I went with poppy-seed last week due to said majority and two of the sites, while not the same are similar (apple-seed and orange seed) I'll go with apple seed.
I hope next week's easier, apparently Bun will double in size in just one week! :D

5 Weeks!
I know it's only been a few days since my "4 weeks/announcement" post but now I can get on track and post on time from now on...hopefully. lol
The day after we told Phoenix she was going to be a big sister she started kissing my tummy good morning and goodnight kiss and saying things like "Hi, Baby!" and "I love you, Baby!" She also likes to pat or hug my tummy every chance she gets and every few days compliments me with "Your tummy is already getting bigger, Mom"...which it well may be thanks to what I think is bloating. lol
After my first beta I emailed the nurse at Olive Fertility (oh yeah, my RE used to work at Genesis Fertility but at the end of January 2013 he and a few of his Genesis colleagues left and opened their own fertility clinic and I stayed on as his patient because he rocks!) and asked if my beta of 147 at 16DPO was good and she said it was but that I could go in a few days earlier if I wanted so I'm going to go in tomorrow morning...might get up early and go before I take Phoenix to school...if not, then as soon as I drop her off. :)
I'm now at a point where I believe I'm actually/finally pregnant and have stopped recording my BBT or POASing! However, it also doesn't yet feel real somehow. In fact, if it wasn't for the constant peeing, fatigue and constant achey/crampy uncomfortable feeling in my lower abdomen I likely still wouldn't believe it. lol
Today I went in search of a craving but failed to obtain it. I went to Superstore to purchase a couple of bags of mini cinnamon & raisin bagels but they only had 12 grain and plain...which baby did NOT want. So I bought some more grape tomatoes and left. I wandered into Chapters and looked at all the pregnancy books and journals...found two pregnancy journals I liked but didn't really want to spend the $20 on them when I already have a free online pregnancy journal in this blog. lol I wandered down to Toys R Us and picked up a Babies R Us catalogue then mosied through the baby stuff - I cannot believe how much those curved pregnancy pillows cost! I almost bought the pregnancy pillow wedge that was much cheaper but decided to look around for a few more days first. Also found the infant bathtub I want but I think DH would frown on me buying such a big item before we're out of the first trimester so I refrained again.
On my way out of the mall I peeked in Thyme Maternity because I've never looked and now I have a reason to even if it's early...beautiful but expensive! However, I did get some valuable information from the lady working there - their sizes work so that you buy the same size you were pre-pregnancy and they simply stretch a lot which I thought was awesome and so hassle-free! lol I may just buy a few things there despite the price but I doubt they'll have a nursing bra for me when the time comes...I'm already big-busted (a 38DD + depending on the bra brand and style etc - for example, from AdoreMe.com I currently fit their 40F size). I was a 38D when I got pregnant with Phoenix and I went up to a DD and by the time my milk came in I was wearing a DDD...so who knows what will happen this time around. lol
After tomorrow's beta results I can start looking into midwives - so excited! :D For now though I think a snack is in order and then a nap and then some pinterest "what looks good to eat" browsing. lol

Anything making you queasy or sick? - Had a bite of Haddock a few days ago, had to spit it out as soon as it hit my tongue! Same story for the hamburger two nights ago. Oh and a guy in the checkout line at Walmart smelled like he'd bathed in beef jerky so instead of staying at the pushing end of the cart I moved to the front to escape the smell. lol
Symptoms? - I feel like I'm having every symptom in the book but these are my mains: Frequent peeing, dizziness, constipation, fatigue, constantly very achey in the lower abdomen area. New this week: Noticed very obvious veins in breasts.
Gender prediction? - Girl. I'm also still thinking twins.

How Big IS Baby? - 4 Weeks
So, I've checked out a few "week by week" sites and for 4 weeks there seems to be a discrepancy in Bun's size.
For 4 weeks one site says "apple seed", another says "period at the end of a sentence", another says "smaller than a grain for rice", and two say "poppy-seed".
I gotta say, apple seeds are quite a bit bigger than poppy-seeds and the question "how much smaller than a grain of rice?" comes to mind - however, the period at the end of a sentence and a poppy-seed are similar in size so I guess that makes 3 out of 5 so the poppy-seed wins! lol
Can't wait to read about next week's size discrepancy! lol

Houston, We Have a Bun in the Oven!
After three and a half years we finally have baby number two on the way! :D
We started trying in November 2009 but after starting a new cycle in December 2009 I went without a period for eight months. Eight months in which I struggled to get my GP to understand that I KNEW something was wrong. The day before she left to go on maternity leave she referred me to an ob/gyn (who was very nice) who ran all my bloodwork again, said it was normal and started me on the clomid challenge. I did three very long cycles of clomid - 50mg, 100mg and 150mg - without ovulating much less getting pregnant. She referred me to a fertility clinic, Genesis, and preceding our first appointment there the clinic had me go for more bloodwork and an HSG and DH had to go for an SA. We lucked out with the reproductive endocrinologist we were given because in our first appointment I was told I had low thyroid, PCOS and a blockage in my left fallopian tube. DH was given the "super sperm" thumbs up. lol I was put on metformin for the PCOS and referred to an endocrinologist for my thyroid and she put me on synthroid and I went for a tubal cannulation to have the blockage removed. I tried 150mg of clomid again with the metformin with no success and then we tried 5mg femara (letrozole) and I requested that they do a follicle scan so on CD12 I went in and a different RE did my scan and said I had one follicle at 12mm on my right and then she couldn't find my left ovary so called in my regular RE and he found it and there was nothing. I was told to come back in on CD14 and my regular RE did that scan and there was nothing on my right or my left so he sent me for bloodwork and he was right because it came back negative - my body wasn't responding. My next appointment was in January 2012 and I was told I could do ovarian drilling (laparoscopic surgery to basically jumpstart my ovaries) or I could do FSH injections but I'd have to lose weight first and it would be expensive. I felt the ovarian drilling was just wrong and so we took 2012 "off" so I could focus on losing weight though I still charted and we tried when things looked like I might ovulate. We were supposed to start injections in February 2013 but we put them off because of finances and family drama and put them off again in March for purely financial reasons and set things for mid-April.
I asked my RE about trying clomid or femara again since I'd lost weight (40lbs) and he said yes and prescribed me clomid (this was back in Feb) but I couldn't bring myself to pay $100 out of pocket for something that had never worked so I asked to try Femara again (it's covered) and so I took Provera to start a fresh cycle and took Femara and added in Fertili Tea and Ova Boost (Fair Haven Health supplements) and on March 12th I got a digital positive OPK and sure enough, my BBT said I'd ovulated later that same day when I took my temp the next morning (March 13th). On March 17th my daughter, Phoenix, and I left to go and visit my SIL who had recently had her 6th baby (2nd girl) and was just off bedrest. On 12DPO (March 24th) I took an internet cheapie HPT and thought it was negative, chucked it and went to eat breakfast. I came back down a good 30 minutes later and fished it out of the garbage for some reason and there it was staring back at me - a BFP! I couldn't believe it despite those tests never turning positive after the fact but I waited until the next day and tested with two different brans and waited and there they were - two more BFPs! lol I emailed a picture to DH who couldn't see the second line (it was faint) so I had to just tell him. lol He was happy but felt weird that I wasn't telling him in person.
We came home on the 27th and on the 28th I went for my first beta HCG test and the result was 147. I also had my progesterone tested just for peace of mind and it was a nice healthy 58. That night we told our DD, I let DH spill the news: he said "We have something to tell you...Mommy is finally...what?" and she squeaked out "Pregnant?!" lol She's very excited and happy and wanted to touch my tummy even though there's no noticeable change yet. You might think we're crazy to tell her at only 4 weeks pregnant but she's 9 and has wanted to be a big sister since she was 3.5 and we didn't even start TTC until she was almost 6 - plus she's rambunctious and needs a real solid reason not to rough house with Mommy anymore and she's an excellent secret keeper. lol The very next morning DD's greeting to me this morning was "aw, cute little baby...I CAN'T wait!" and I said "Well...you have to." which got "I wish babies didn't take so long!" lol DD has already added a good morning and good night kiss to the baby to her morning and evening routine already. So adorable! lol DH nicknamed baby "Bun" the night I got home and rubs my belly when we're in bed and constantly asks if I'm okay if I so much as make an odd noise...so despite his cautionary words etc (we're not planning on telling family and friends for a bit yet and facebook won't get to know until we're done with the first trimester) I can tell he's pleased even though he keeps saying he's not sure how he feels yet (it's his first pregnancy). I think actions speak louder in this case. :)
On Thursday, April 4th I go in for my second beta - I'm hoping for a number of at least 650 (though more is welcome) if it's doubling just perfectly. lol After that I need to email my RE again and figure out what the next step is (ie: first scan etc) and then I need to start looking into the midwives in my area. I also need to contact the midwife in Smithers, BC because we're moving there at the end of July and she would ultimately be the one delivering. lol
Our EDD is December 3, 2013!
